1. I saw it last week

It is so well done. Great script and acting all around. And very important story.

3. Liked their realistic portrayal of Catholics involved in the investigation. Shock and loss

For each journalist as the realities set in. None of them wanted to believe that the abuses and deliberate cover-ups were so prevalent. In the face of so much evidence, it is a huge loss to learn the truth about the institution that served as your personal source of comfort and security. The globe also admitted it had relented in the past to pressure to drop the investigations.

The church wants to claim the paper was on a witch hunt, but, actually, they were reluctant investigators until the abuse became so prevalent.

interviewed on Terry Gross's Fresh Air - sounded really well done.

4. The famous actors never over-stepped their roles: the story was the only celebrity.

They were clearly doing this for the victims, not for their own careers. Labor of love. The film never became a vehicle for lewd voyerism. All of the victims were handled with respect and care. Even the perpetrators were not used for side-show gratuitous gimmicks. Very impressed. The best moment is at the very end,........

5. Those who've worked at the Globe (including the reporters themselves)

note the incredible attention to detail. Somewhere (I think in the Boston Globe) I read that Ruffalo's portrayal of Rezendes was so perfect that Rezendes' colleagues giggled when they saw the movie.

We were living in the area at the time, and were close enough to some aspects of the situation that I can vouch for the accuracy of a number of minor details. (As I said, incredible attention to detail, on every level)

It's an OUTSTANDING movie, and, at its heart, about the impact of investigative journalism in general (R.I.P.), and its importance to our democracy, with the Boston archdiocese sexual abuse scandal as a case study of why excellent responsible, courageous journalism is so key to the health of our society. I got a visceral thrill as those Boston Globe trucks rolled out of the garage, stacked to the roof with newspapers about to announce that devastating story.
