Fox & Friends: "Prayer is more effective than gun control"
What bothers me most is most people who mutter the incantation "thoughts and prayers" don't actually pray. I'm a cynical atheist/agnostic who doesn't see much point in prayer but if people find it helpful or therapeutic then good for them. What I hate is the pose. Most of these people aren't actually praying, they're just telling people that they are.
The GOP is offering nothing more than thoughts and prayers
because the National Rifle Association has been bankrolling their campaigns.

Most people use "prayers" as a meaningless platitude to make themselves feel better.

And I feel like that too. These people (a lot of them) are the pious man in the parable of the Good Samaritan.

Which makes it difficult to them apart from the ones that want to use it as a policy tool.
Either way, they both hold the same amount of effectiveness: zero.

(20,885 posts)3. You nailed it. It's the fault of "fake prayers."
People get shot. Republicans, all of them, SAY they are going to pray for us, but do they? I don't think so. Too many dead for that.

devoted they are, and the flock will nod and agree, oh what wonderful and masterful people the republicans are. America really needs to grow up and quit believing in Santa Claus. There aren't any magical cures! Want a cure, follow the money trail!
