And I don't say that with sarcasm.
Aaron Rodgers praised for criticizing fans anti-Muslim comments
It was not a red-letter day for Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Though he led a late rally, many of his passes went wide, and the Packers were trounced by the Detroit Lions, giving that team just its second victory of the season.
But if Rodgers came up short on the field, he made up for it at the news conference afterward. Just two days after religious extremists killed at least 132 in Paris, Rodgers registered a complaint about a fan who appeared to shout Muslims suck during a moment of silence.
I think its important to do things like [the moment of silence]. Were a connected world, you know six degrees of separation, Rodgers said after the game, as The Washington Posts Des Bieler reported. I must admit, though, I was very disappointed with whoever the fan was who made a comment that I thought was really inappropriate, during the moment of silence. Its that kind of prejudicial ideology that I think puts us in the position that were in today, as a world.

(2,931 posts)But I am weary of just quoting the name of the school. In my experience the work of the student is just as important. You can get a Berkeley level education at a cal state. You can also get a cal state education at Berkeley... I guess the only point here is that is up to the person to show what he learned. I think Aaron Rodgers learned some good things

(10,180 posts)that's proud he's on our team, and not just for winning. I heard that shouting during the moment of silence and was horrified! We played it back several times but could not understand what was shouted and it was by at least two fans, maybe more. I just knew it would be something ugly.
The Packers are probably more important than they should be in Wisconsin, and always have been since I was a kid in the 60's. Among other things, they function as role models here for many so their conduct can be important. We have not been let down with Rodgers in that regard.
Thank you Rodgers for speaking up! He really is a smart, gentle and classy guy that virtually no one has a bad word for. He gives back a lot to our communities here in Wisconsin too.
