Colorado Springs police are looking for a woman who allegedly clobbered her boyfriend in the head with a frying pan on Christmas morning.

Apparently, such stories are to be treated whimsically when the man is the victim.

...it was pretty matter-of-fact. I did not detect any "whimsical" treatment of the story. Unless you are referring to the term "clobbered", but then again that word seems appropriate under the circumstances.

I agree wholeheartedly that stories like this should not be treated humorously when a man is the victim.

It should have simply said that the man was assaulted by the woman.

Strange because my initial reaction was something along the lines of "he probably had it coming". Thanks for making me aware of it.

Battered men rarely come forward because of the perception that they should be strong enough to handle it, but it is still a major problem. BTW, you can easily kill someone with a cast iron pan, even a small one. The article doesn't specify what type of pan, but other than the title I didn't see anything that suggests it was treated "whimsically". The biggest problem with what happened is that the police just assumed the man was at fault.

Add being gay to the equation and you can almost a guarantee of a laugh from the cops. Been there, done that, have the scars.

Fortunately, when my ex followed me to south Florida, BSO took a dim view of his assaults. He fled the state with an arrest warrant and a restraining order after him. I wouldn't guarantee gay men would be so protected many other places.

I survived and eventually found the most wonderful man. Sixteen years of love and friendship. I'm well aware that there are many, many others who are not as lucky as I.

His ex stalked him - as in sitting in his car outside the guy's house. My wife knew both of them rather well, but I only knew the guy who was battered really well and he was one of those people who would do anything for you if you asked. Unfortunately, he ended up moving to another state, partially to escape his ex, and he didn't prosecute him or get a restraining order against him. We all miss him. Hopefully he'll come back some day.
