Driver crashes brand new Ferrari after leaving dealership - YouTube
Video for Ferrari crash dealership youtube
► 1:13
The accident was captured last weekend on video by the driver of a car following the LaFerrari, one of the most expensive vehicles in the world, on a busy street.
At first, everything seemed to be going well, but then a lane opened up and the driver of the LaFerrari hit the gas hard, causing the 950-horsepower hybrid to fishtail and careen off the street and into parked cars.
While no one was hurt, the rare sports car sustained serious damage to its front end.

(111,529 posts)but he'll probably sue the dealership, claim the car was defective.
Looks like a pretty cheesy car for a million and a half. The front end is shredded.

(44,397 posts)Ferrari states that the car has a top speed exceeding 350 km/h (217 mph), and that it is capable of reaching 100 km/h (62 mph) in under three seconds, 200 km/h (124 mph) in under seven seconds, and a speed of 300 km/h (186 mph) in 15 seconds.[2] Ferrari also claims that the car has lapped its Fiorano Test Circuit in 1:19.70 which is faster than any other road-legal car Ferrari has ever produced.[15]

(24,386 posts)Just like the Enzo and the F-50.
If you open the rear hatch and look at the rear end of these units, they look just like a Formula 1 car.

(50,614 posts)These stupid non-driving motherfuckers with more money than brains...stick 'em in a car with more horsepower than 90 percent of the airplanes on the market, and shit like this HAS to happen. There's no way around it! A guy would think, "brand new shiny rocketship of a car, shouldn't we fly the guy who bought it to Monza and put him in front of a racing instructor for a couple of days?" If you have a million-five for a car like this, $25,000 per year for insurance and $20,000 a year for an on-call traffic ticket lawyer, you have a few thousand bucks for a nice Italian vacation.
Fortunately for this idiot, Ferrari S.p.A. should still have the molds to make him a new front clip.

(10,164 posts)Right up there with the GT-R (of all things). But it can be turned off...and I suspect that's what this clown shoe might have done.
c. 950 horsepower, a decent chunk of it from the electric motor, which has massive torque from 0 RPM...electronic driver aids turned off (I suspect)...driver with no experience with anything like this level of performance (I also suspect).
Oops.

(15,396 posts)One of our docs traded his old one and got the 430....he's a funny old man. He's treats his as DD, rain or shine he brings in the Ferrari. I've even seen him drive them on days where there was light snow.
He gave us a ride in his Viper venom 1000 a few years ago, it spent more time in the garage than on the road. Eventually he totaled it and picked up the Silver (boring) ferrari.
The Ferraris' are much more refined than his old Dodge that's for sure.
Prior to that the only Ferrari I'd ever rode in was that Mondial a doc at my DWs work bought many years ago to go along with his ugly European car collection. (He had 8 MGs stolen last year from a storage building, and had no idea for several months)
Oh and a side note....I think he traded Ferraris because of a bunch of routine maintenance his silver one was needing. He was complaining to us a few months ago about needing a 5-11k of maintenance.

(12,693 posts)Worked in a car dealer for the better part of twenty years. On probably a dozen occasions I got to watch some poor bastard tear up his new ride pulling out of the dealership. And more often than not it was some dude with a new muscle car who suddenly thought he was at Sears Point or some such.

(38,362 posts)Seriously, the mere existence of automobiles like this is all the evidence we need to declare this world "market" economy corrupt beyond measure or repair.
Fubar.
Automobile are among the most idiotic machines humans have ever devised.
I was born in the Jet Age of Automobiles, when cars had big fins, but I was hoping the age of the automobile would be over by now.
Until that fine future when ordinary people are asking, "Why the fuck would I want an automobile?" I'll settle for laughing whenever I see an absurdly expensive cars trashed without any serious injury to innocent bystanders.
Hopefully this idiot LaFerrari driver paid for the damage he did to others, on the spot.
So sorry, my bad. Here's $30,000 cash to replace your old car I wrecked.
Sadly, my experience is that too many overly wealthy humans are assholes who got overly wealthy screwing others over, knowingly or not, and at best they'll say "Call my lawyer," their lawyer being someone just as mean as they are.
