I don't favor the death penalty in most all cases. But couldn't what OK did be

considered cruel and unusual punishment?

They knew they didn't have the drug they needed to kill Richard Glossip but they let him sweat it out believing he was going to die until the last minute. He was even served his last meal and, presumably, his witnesses were present.

they can't keep jerking people around. also, no matter what people think of the prisoners, most have families, and it is very cruel to them too

we have no credibility on human rights until we stop the state sanctioned killing of citizens. it is not about the criminals, it is about us.

I don't want the man to be put to death, but it appears to me that they've just extended the agony of knowing what's coming for 37 more days. I cannot imagine the stress that would put on the inmate and his family.

Are there any further appeals possible? I didn't think there were, but I'm no expert.

That being said, the death penalty in general is cruel and unusual punishment.

The state has no business intentionally killing people who have already been removed from public society, no matter the deed that took them there.

of times when I felt indifferent for the most atrocious of offenses where there is no doubt the offender is guilty and remorseless and has committed a particularly heinous act.

It's expensive, takes forever, the logistics are iffy (as in this case), it's morally wrong to kill, we execute kids and retarded people, and, of course, some of those executed are innocent.

Doing away with it would simplify many things.
