A Note to Ben Carson who said a Muslim shouldn't be president...

Perhaps you should address Huckabee's comment about Dred Scott being the law of the land which would prohibit YOU, Ben Carson, from being president.

It was also said Jack Kennedy could never win because he was Catholic. If one lives long enough...

Such mores cannot co-exist with a free and open democracy.

9. There have already been problems with Sharia law being felt

in some U.S communities where they have large populations. The problem I feel is with the strict interpretation of their religion among the fundamentalists. Not with the majority of their people.

10. Doesn't that same problem

In fact relate also to fundamental Christians? (and any other faith)

They want the Bible to be the law of the land
Popular example of the week 'Kim'

As you said: "Not with the Majority of their people." though :-p

29. That are even more communities in the US where Christian fanatics control

The local and state governments. Take a look at what is going on in Alabama, Missouri, Oklahoma, Kentucky, etc.

I don't want to live in a state where religious attitudes towards women control their access to decent health care, including abortions - but in Florida religious fanatics have restricted health care for women. In Texas and many other states they are trying to make it impossible for women to get to a clinic that provide health care - and they are succeeding.

We don't have to worry about Sharia law - we have to worry about ANY FUCKING FUNDAMENTALIST RELIGION taking over our government. And right now the fundamentalist Christians are winning this fight.

Don't just point out Islam - it is every fundamentalist religion that is the problem.

12. We must live in parallel universes then

Last I heard, Christians don't bar women from voting, don't allow men to treat women like property or force women to wear garb that hides their bodies. Just for starters.

23. A religious organization is not a country, not even Vatican City (See: Guards, Swiss). So I'm not

sure your "comparison" is apt.

But that there are similarities in the tenets of the stricter forms of the major religions? Probably so.

21. Christians don't force women to wear garb that hides their bodies? Well, some do.

Liberty University Dress Code for women.

Hair and clothing styles related to a counterculture (as determined by the Student Conduct Review Committee) are not acceptable. Dresses and skirts should be no shorter than the top of the knee (sitting or standing). Skirt slits should be modest; open slits should be no higher than the top of the knee, closed slits should be no higher than two inches from the top of the knee. Shoulder straps should be no less than two inches wide. Anything tight, scant, backless, see-through, low in the neckline or revealing the midriff (in any position) is immodest and unacceptable. Slips should be worn under thin material. Earrings and plugs are permitted in ears only. No other facial piercing or plugs are allowed, including tongue.

Class Dress
Sweaters, loose-fitting tops, sweatshirts (no inappropriate logos), skirts, dresses, pants, which would include capri/cropped pants and neat jeans (no holes, patches, or tears), footwear (sandals or flip-flops are acceptable).

Class Dress must be worn in academic and administrative buildings before 4:30 pm on weekdays and in all classes, regardless of time.

Casual Dress
Shirts, neat pants, jeans, wind suits, loose-fitting, modest shorts (mid-thigh or longer), shoes (sandals or flip-flops are acceptable).

Casual Dress is acceptable in academic and administrative buildings after 4:30 pm on weekdays and in the Reber/Thomas Dining Hall for all meals.

Swimming Pool
Swimwear is only appropriate at the swimming pool. Students are to wear appropriate casual or sport attire (as stated in The Liberty Way) going to and from the pool. Women are required to wear a one-piece suit that is in good taste. Swimsuits that are see-through/mesh, expose the midriff and/or are low in the front or back or cut high on the legs are not acceptable.

No religion will run the government of this country, ever. Sharia Law can't take place here. Not until a majority have become radical muslims and overthrow the Constitution.

28. They prevent women from having bodily autonomy.

And they prevent lgbt people from having the same civil rights as heterosexuals.

They're doing that NOW.

In THIS country.

So maybe you should start defending our rights against the real threat to our freedom here instead of telling us the oppressors aren't that bad.

31. Christians are restricting women's right to their choice of health care

So called Christians are using any means they can find to shut down women's health clinics all over this country. They are bombing clinics and murdering the doctors that provide needed services.

Haven't you been listening? Some of these religious nuts are talking about restricting women's right to vote in this country. They are enforcing rules in schools for girls only that limit what the girls can wear - no visible shoulders or collarbones, lowering skirt lengths, etc. They are trying to teach girls to be ashamed of their bodies, just like some Islamic groups do. If the Christian fundamentalists win, they will advance the restrictions.

This is not in Islamic communities, this is in predominantly Christian communities.

It's not that long since women didn't have the vote in this country, were not allowed to own property in their own names, and could not go out in public with certain body parts showing - my grandmother was born when all over those were either law or enforced by community standards. In her lifetime all those laws were changed but they can change back if we don't keep fighting. And we do not have to look at different religions or cultures than what this country started with. It was entrenched in the religious fanatics that founded some of our first colonies.

These are fights we thought were won and over decades ago and now they are back.
