What hit me was when Felicia Sanders said he caught them with their eyes closed. That made sense.
“He caught us with our eyes closed,” said Felicia Sanders who was one of two adult survivors of the shooting. Dylann Roof reportedly opened fire in the closing moments of bible study. “We were just about to say the prayer to be released and he caught us with our eyes closed,” said Sanders. She and Polly Shepherd sat down with NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt and described the moments before and after the massacre.
