As a member of the LGBTQ community, Raven-Symone, 29, has the utmost respect for Caitlyn Jenner, 65. However, The View guest host isnt too keen on how fast Caitlyn is moving as an advocate for the community and thinks that Cait should slow it down a notch!
Ever since Caitlyn publicly opened up about her struggle with gender identity, the reality star has made it her mission to help those who are transgender. However, there are some people, like Raven, who dont agree with the pace Caitlyn is doing things. I think its wonderful, and yes, it needs a light being shined on it, Raven expressed on the July 27 episode of The View. When I came out, I didnt go and go hardcore and be like, Im going to save the world for LGBT Youve got to learn it. Youve got to learn it first, and shes not, really. Rosie Perez, 50, rebutted with the possibility of Caitlyn waiting for the perfect moment to become a voice for the LGBTQ community.

I would think the recent argument with kirk Cameron's sister would get her to see that is not possible .

Like Shakespeare says, some people have greatness thrust upon them.
No, Caitlyn doesn't have the "job experience" that other LGBTQs do, but it isn't as though she decided to barge to the head of line and declare herself their new leader. It's her fame and news value that's getting her the awards and TV deals and headlines and mainstream support. Instead of feeling resentful that Caitlyn seems to be harvesting what the LGBTQ community has planted, why don't they help leverage her status to their advantage by teaching her what she needs to "learn?"

(62,297 posts)Caitlyn may be a celebrity and be using that but whatever they do is not "too fast."
edit: and I'm pretty much an anti-fan of Jenner and the Kardashians and their ilk and I think Caitlyn got super lucky to be so wealthy and be able to transition openly without the pain that so many others have to deal with due to lack of resources or support.

(16,685 posts)For reasons not related to her gender or her advocacy on behalf of transgender people everywhere. Raven Symone, however, is not a spokesperson for anyone except Raven Symone. I can't speak for the African American community but she certainly doesn't speak for me as a gay man.
