(108,977 posts)she has that arm extended for some reason.
In none of her other pictures does her shoulder do that -- it's got a normal curve.

(36,988 posts)The shoulder thing like you said doesn't look right.

(3,963 posts)It should have been as soon as they brought her in, right?

(18,497 posts)The picture does look suspicious but there were those calls.
The bail bond agent would not have known her voice so someone else could have made that. But her friend knew her voice.
This would also mean they let her body lay around a couple days to decompose.

(108,977 posts)Instead of Keppra, the epilepsy medicine she actually needed. They gave her whatever was handy to "calm" her.
According to the documents online, she didn't have a pill bottle with her when they checked her in. She would have needed to see a jail doctor or nurse to prescribe it. I doubt that happened over the weekend. There isn't any documentation that it did.

Texas jails under fire for inadequate medical care
Medication Mishaps
During his 11 days under the supervision of Denton County, Rea said he was unable to receive his pain medication and anti-anxiety medications that he took before being arrested. Instead, he was given blood pressure medication, aspirin and nitroglycerin.
His sister Teresa, a registered nurse, said that jailers wouldnt accept Reas medical records or medical history.

The Administrative Code states that jails should provide procedures for the distribution of prescriptions in accordance with written instructions from a physician by an appropriate person designated by the sheriff/operator.
However, the physician refers to a physician within the jail and all directions from the jail physician must be followed, according to the Administrative Code.
Guards pass along information and dont tell you anything, Rea said. They medicate you until you dont care.

(24,010 posts)I've been reading about this case today, and even viewed the cop video and the amateur video, and struggled trying to comprehend how this woman, stopped for a minor traffic violation, ended up dead in jail. The vids reveal her in life--her living spirit--as she tries to assert her rights as a human being and an American, while the cop deliberately, coldly escalates the traffic stop into an incident, goading her to object, dragging her from her car, threatening her, pushing her off camera (the police camera) to shackle her and smash her head into the ground (amateur vid). It is heart-rending and enraging to watch this horror unfold.
But the 'mugshot'--oh God the 'mugshot'--brings such sorrow. She looks like a torture victim, like someone who has been beaten, raped and is soon to be murdered. But her spirit--her magnificent spirit--is still there, almost hammered out of her, but still there...

(2,149 posts)I don't think she was dead, but I think the mugshot may offer other information.
Edit. Her other sister and he family attorney were interviewed on by Lawrence O'Donnell on The Last Word Wednesday night.

(33,956 posts)the complexion is sallow. She appears to be at the very least, catatonic.
The right arm is extended and the posture is not natural.
Normally mug shots are done in front of a height chart and the lighting is not bright like you typically see in a police department.
I've never seen inmates given an undershirt. If you look just above the left shoulder, there appears to be some discoloration and swelling that we don't see on the other picture. Also looks like someone else dressed her....the way the shirts are bunched up on the left side.
Would be interesting to compare other mug shots of other inmates done by the same department.

(22,336 posts)and that can't happen in a mug shot.
But OTOH after being treated like that and put in jail over a traffic stop, she could be pissed off and remarkably sad. That's what her expression looks like to me. Not dead, but pissed off and very sad, and I know I would be.
Weird.

(466 posts)Usually they are holding a card with a number or something to identify them. It is possible that her arm is extended to hold the card in front of her chest.
But--there was video of the outside of her cell. Therefore, there must be video of her being put into the cell. Why haven't we seen that yet??

(32,701 posts)seen by potential employers, friends, foes...And there would be nothing she could do to get rid of it, as the online mugshot industry is a racket. These cops are destroying lives in multiple ways. Being arrested is a huge, traumatic deal. Going to jail, and staying for 3 days is a huge deal! Had she lived, mostly everything she had worked for up to that point would have been lost. I can't imagine how she must have felt as her limited phone calls were being routed to voicemail. It's heartbreaking, really. I thought about her every time I used my turning signal yesterday.

(38,613 posts)"Innocent until proven guilty" is a great deal herder to do when the who world sees your mugshot and knows you were arrested.

(1 post)I cannot understand how someone can stand against a wall for a mug shot and both shoulders are touching the wall that's not natural especially where she was a big bottomed woman
