Can someone please tell me how to stop the damn telemarketing calls I get at least 5 times a day?

Today I had 8!

I am on the 'do not call' list, both cell and land line. No matter what I do, I still get these damn calls. I am not much for profanity but DAMN, I'm sick of this. If I happen to be near the phone, I can reject the call but if not, I get the 'missed call' notice. Off I go to the internet. They are all telemarketing calls.

I have an LG phone. # LGC410. Cannot figure out how to block future calls once I see them in the 'missed call' list. I have only a cell phone now, but have the same # that I had before on the land line. I am on both 'do not call' lists. Does this list mean anything? Some of the callers try 2 or 3 times a day.

It annoys me more than I can say. We are charged for these calls. I will never, ever buy anything from someone who calls me with a solicitation. My hope is that I do not miss something important but what the heck are we to do?
How do you cope with these annoying calls?

when I don't know the caller. It's taken a few years, but I'm not called any longer.

I never bothered with the "do not call" list. I knew it wouldn't work since a lot of these nuisance calls are routed here from offshore.

I don't get those calls. I was getting calls from collection agents looking for my friend but I shut those down, too.

Back in 2013, the Federal Trade Commission, fed up with being buried in complaints, launched the $50,000 Robocall Challenge. That gave rise to Nomorobo, which you can download and set up right now, as well as a Google technology that can detect caller ID spoofing used by notorious scammers and spam callers like "Rachel from card services." According to the FCC, automated calls remain a huge issue to this day: it recorded 215,000 complaints in 2014 alone, not including those sent to the FTC. In fact, when FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler voted in favor of the rule changes, he begged phone companies to "please start letting [their] consumers request to have robocalls blocked."

the police said they could no longer do anything because you can't find where they are calling from or if you do, they are international.

The list only stays active for a couple of years. Every time I get an increasing frequency of calls I go online and redo my numbers.
The other problem is that the do not call list only deters the legit businesses. The scammers could care less about any list.

It's a free Android app and I've been very happy with it. Once I list a number, it never rings from that number again, though I can go in and see how many times and when one of my blocked numbers has called, but only when I purposely go look. Since it's free, it couldn't hurt to give it a try.

The problem is that only law-abiding folks obey the "do-not-call" list.

Ask them for their names and private phone numbers. when they say they aren't allowed to give them out, say you need them. When thy ask why, say it is so YOU can harass THEM at all hours of the day to offer THEM useless things they neither want nor need.

On my caller ID, it's listed as "Survey."

I call the number back, and it's a phone number not in service.

I remember a news station tracked down the owner of this ripoff company, he drove off in his fancy schmancy car faster than you can say Boo.

He gets fined, closes up shop, and reopens under a new name, same tactics and product.

I tell you, I hang on every folksy word.

Actually, I just hang up. Sometimes I tell the live callers (ol' Fred is a robocaller) they are participating in an illegal scam, and then hang up. To hell with them all.

I'm really sorry you get charged for incoming calls. Something's not right about that picture, something like a lack of consumer protections. Hope someone has some good ideas for you.

and then provide the locations to the Air Force for drone strike training. No actual explosives, mind you but a 3000lb spent missile through the roof might cause these telemarketers to find another line of work.

I usually don't answer my phone unless I recognize the caller. When I have answered I've gotten people claiming they are doing a survey and a few time got the guys who want you to get on your computer for them.

For years I've told them I'm on a no-call list (which I am) but it makes no difference. Lately I've been talking back to them in gibberish ("goockle macrack signooov deredech&quot or I speak to them in French. Sometimes I tell them I need to go get my heariing aid and I walk away for several minutes. I told one guy that I was walking away and setting the phone down but he could feel free to pitch to himself. I retuned minutes later and he was still talking to me. I've come to hate them so much that torturing them has become therapeutic to me. My cousin makes them think that they are about to make a sale and after wasting many minutes of their time he just says "gotta go, thanks for the talk" and hangs up. One time I asked a young lady about why she choose such a terrible job of trying to sell something to someone who doesn't want it and how this could possibly benefit anyone else in society. She practically told me her life's story and the fact she wanted to find a better career path. Twenty minutes later after a long conversation she tried to make her pitch again and I hung up. I hate them and their profession.

Eliminated almost all junk calls for me. It's nice because if your phone rings only once, then falls silent, you know a call has been intercepted. I get no more "credit card services" or "Microsoft - your computer is slow" calls. And it's free.
