It will become a perenial campaign issue, and we will see lawsuits every year as sates try in one way or another to overthrow the ruling.

According to the polling data that I remember, acceptance of marriage equality has been on a steady upward trend over the last several years. By contrast, support for reproductive rights has shown small peaks and valleys over the years, but by and large it's still about where it was in 1973, when Roe v. Wade was decided.

The result is that the Republicans can continue to use abortion as an effective campaign issue. If they try the same thing with same-sex marriage, though, I think it will backfire on them.
