GOP & RW Religions Already Plotting To Do To Gay Marriage What They Did To Abortion.

GOP and its allies give notice that they will do to gay marriage what they did to reproductive rights. They will pass laws within the limit of legality that will make it impossible for gays to get married. They will connive and find ways to obstruct this SCOTUS decision and they will never never give up. And they will whip up more hate of the LGBT community just like they have on race.

You can count on a GOP counter revolution on this matter. And that makes the GOP more dangerous than ever. They are insane with hate and anger. They will double down in every way. How many imaginative ways will they come up with? Time will tell.

They only accept SCOTUS as long as everything goes their way. And they will not accept any other outcome.

1. Not much that they are going to be able to do about marriage.

That ship has sailed (today). Even in Texas gays are marrying. And in Georgia. And in Alabama.

No way to put the tooth paste back into the tube.

still highly unlikely, since they need 67 votes in the US Senate

4. It is extraordinarily difficult to amend the Constitution.

I would worry much more about talk of a Constitutional convention. That is done by the state legislatures, which unfortunately the Republicans hold enough to actually do it. Then, they could even repeal the Bill of Rights in one session (and replace it with the Ten Commandments, of course).

Watch for that one.

5. i could see the wingnuts setting up state elections for a constutional amendment in weird times

like in August for primary elections where no one votes. im not sleeping on anything they may try because it is not impossible to get it passed in 37 non-urban states given the right conditions for the homophobes. and they have like 10 years to get it done too

They can appeal to people's compassion with images of dead fetuses.
Images of people in love just aren't the same. The more people who know people who are LGBT and married, the harder it is going to be for them to enforced hate.

8. The only thing they can do is get out of the marriage business altogether

It's really quite hard to get around the equal protection clause of the Constitution. Or they could create state laws that deny those with STDs a marriage license but then that effects straight people too. At this point, they can't screw the LGBTQ community without shooting themselves and straight people in the foot.

They've become quite successful at putting limits around Roe v Wade.

What will they think up to do with this ruling?

Look how long they've been fighting the ACA!

It's a serious problem with right wingers. They have no inclination to move forward, to change,
to advance society. They always seem to want to do nothing but regress. And while they are
pushing for regression, they are constantly spewing hatred for anyone who doesn't agree with
them.

They will not like the results.

I mentioned this earlier to one of the most conservative pro-business, anti-tax, anti-worker-protections, 1%er asshats I've ever met (so...the epitome of the non-religious RW conservative)...he said if they (religious conservatives) waste any energy or political cache on this like they do on abortion...he's done with the GOP and so are most of the conservatives he associates with. Non religious-conservatives in the GOP have had enough of the RWNJs for God squad and are completely-willing to give them the boot from the grand coalition of the right. They can try and try but all they will do is kill the electoral chances of the GOP, get themselves marginalized and cost themselves state houses and gubernatorial seats.

To the RWNJs for God, I would like to excerpt from one of my favorite movies:

11. I don't know how much they can do in this case

Unless they make all marriage difficult to get. The SCOTUS could have ruled that the states and local municipalities should decide the specifics, in which case they would do exactly as they've done with Roe v. Wade, but in this case I think they're just out of luck.

But we need more of the SCOTUS on our side so we can get as strong a ruling on abortion as we've had on this. We need a Dem to win in 2016!

It's about BEING married. Wherever you want.
Republicans can try to make it difficult to get married
but thats such a laughable response. They cannot stop
Progress and they can't stop love.

we all need to get each others' backs. Stand up for one another in a grand coalition against losing rights. Show up for one another. LGBTQ, women, black, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, workers etc. need to stand in the face of this wall of hatred to ensure that we hold ground and are able to move forward.

The opportunities to limit Marriage are far fewer than for reproductive rights.

Their best chance is to seize the presidency and get more Scalitos in there.
