Poll Ouestion:
MSM outlets, and Secretary Hillary Clinton supporters. have been reporting that the majority of African American voters, and other minority groups, have never heard of Bernie Sanders.

(154,021 posts)but please, do not take me too seriously, I cover politics for a living.
On edit, I have met people who are minority who not only are aware that Sanders is running, but are now campaign volunteers. As I said, I cover politics, among other things.

(2,427 posts)We have people that can't name the vice president or know there are 50 states and a whole other host of things people living here should know.

(45,251 posts)Conventional wisdom, maybe even polls and experience, shows that, while Americans may love an underdog, they hate having voted for the candidate who will lose the election, especially if the candidate loses by a landslide.
This is why media no longer starts announcing any results until all polls on the West Coast have closed. So, polls that say Bernie has zero chance of winning this primary would, in theory, discourage many people from voting for him in the primary.
People of all hues have either heard of Bernie or not. Either way, I am not concerned. Super Tuesday is not next Tuesday. By Super Tuesday, more people will have heard of him. Voting for Bernie is my best way to tell centrist New Democrats, "Not Good Enough." I could not live with myself if I did not vote for him, even if mine were the only vote he got anywhere in the country that day.

(51,907 posts)Yet. At Camp Wellstone, the first thing they tell you is "You are not normal." In Seattle, the workshops often are held at the same time as the Fremont Solstice parade. The the tag line becomes "All the normal people are across that bridge looking at naked bikers."

(2,522 posts)I think most people, regardless of race, are too busy to know who most of the candidates are in any depth. People on DU are politics junkies, so of course they know. But not everyone is like that.
