That flag is a symbol of racism and white supremacy. You can't wipe out the shameful history of slavery here, no matter how many monuments you blow up.

Getting rid of that flag is great symbolically, but we ourselves need to do the work to get rid of rampant racism.

5. I think there should be a massive memorial to the victims of the Slave Trade built in place of these

'monuments' to the war fought to keep them enslaved. I also think it is definitive of those places that they have built so many monuments and never thought to Memorialize that great genocide nor pay homage to the lives destroyed.
What they did is they built all the wrong monuments.

In central Oregon, there is a town named Maupin, in honor of Howard Maupin, the rancher who shot Paulina, the Northern Paiute warrior and leader. But Paulina won the "naming after me" battle, with a small town in Crook County, Paulina Lake, Paulina Basin, Paulina Crater, and probably more.

That genocidal maniac Junipero Serra and his henchmen named them after saints when they weren't busy slaughtering the natives.

9. Not a purge, nor a ban-- simply some state houses refusing to celebrate it

Not a purge, nor a ban, nor any destruction-- simply some state houses refusing to celebrate the primary goal of the failed 4-year secessionist states, and the free market reacting to negative publicity.

However, should you wish to purchase a confederate battle flag, fly it from your porch whilst sipping a mint julip and whistling Dixie to celebrate your interpretation of history, feel free to-- no government agency will prevent you from doing so.

Maybe post a picture for us...

Busy, indeed.

I guess my thinking so is doubleplus ungood.

I imagine it's fun to pretend you're being denied the ability to purchase the rebel flag or that monuments are being destroyed.

Doubleplus good, indeed; regardless of whether your thinking was actually a factor or not...

Years ago they hauled the grave markers for the Confederate Veterans Cemetery to the land fill, put a concrete cap on it, and built a Corporate structure.
