Woman who attacked body in casket could have bond revoked

TULSA, Oklahoma - The woman charged with attacking a woman's body in her casket could get her bond revoked this week.

Shaynna Sims is out of jail on bond under the condition she does not leave Muskogee County, but prosecutors say she violated that agreement.

The second time Sims bonded out she was ordered to wear at GPS monitor and was ordered not to come to Tulsa County unless she had a medical appointment or some other emergency.

Now, prosecutors say not only did she leave Muskogee County and come into Tulsa County, but went to the very apartment complex where the victim's children live.

This woman is nuts. I hope she gets the help she needs, but I also hope her bond is revoked for now. If she's going into those children's apartment complex, she's a danger to them.

They might have had a floor for them I dunno, she didn't really talk about work and I never cared about the details as a child. Anyway we called it Yipsy, because it was in Ypsilanti.

An Oklahoma woman already accused of slashing the corpse of her boyfriend's ex-girlfriend at a funeral home viewing last month was taken back into custody Monday after bond was set on an additional charge accusing her of removing body parts of the dead woman.
Witnesses told officers they saw Sims reach into the casket during the viewing. The dead woman's face was found slashed from her hairline to the tip of her nose, her makeup was smeared and her hair was on the floor, police said. They said Sims also stole the dead woman's shoes and was carrying a knife with the woman's hair attached to it.

The additional mutilation of the woman's body was discovered as it was being prepared for cremation.

It's unclear what happened to the body parts Sims is accused of removing, and Tulsa Police Sgt. Shane Tuell said Monday authorities are still trying to get Sims to talk.

At the request of the family, we're using only the dead woman's first name, which was Tabatha. She was 38 when she died of long-running health issues this spring.

TULSA, Oklahoma - A judge revoked the bond Wednesday for a woman accused of cutting the body of a friend of her husband during a funeral home viewing.

Judge Cliff Smith revoked the bond for Shaynna Sims, also known as Shaynna Smith.

Sims is charged with five felonies after police said she went to the funeral home, cut Tabatha's face, took some of her hair and other body parts and stole her shoes.

According to the family, Sims then went to Tabatha's apartment and told Tabatha's children she needed pictures of their mother and some of her jewelry. Tabatha's children called police who arrested Sims.

An Oklahoma woman charged with slashing the corpse of her boyfriend's ex-girlfriend is competent to stand trial, a district judge ruled Wednesday.

Tulsa District Court Special Judge David Youll reviewed 27-year-old Shaynna Sims' psychiatric evaluation and said she is competent, meaning she's able to understand the charges against her and is able to help defend herself. Sims, who did not appear in court, is jailed without bond and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Sept. 11.

Sims has pleaded not guilty to four felonies: unauthorized removal of body parts from a dead body; larceny from a person; knowingly concealing or receiving stolen property; and first-degree burglary. She also is charged with two misdemeanors of unauthorized dissection and disturbing or interrupting a funeral.

Chad Greer, Sims' attorney, said her character has been "assassinated" in the media and in "the court of public opinion."

Well, that's kind of to be expected when you cut up a corpse and threaten the deceased woman's children.
