I think the "modern day slaves" thing IS the end goal...

Twenty years ago it would have sounded like some freaking futuristic conspiracy theory,

but I can honestly see no other end goal, especially because they're trying to push this on Europe as well.

It feels like the Ultimate war between fascism and the people and it scares me.

If I'm reading the rules negotiated right, if TAA failed, then TPA will not go to the President - even if it passes.

So, since the TAA failed, the TPA vote is merely symbolic.

That's if I'm understanding this correctly.

Fri Jun 12, 2015, 02:13 PM

Since Democrats are typically supportive of the TAA as an assistance program for displaced workers, the voting rules made the TPA's passage contingent on the TAA passing. They figured there was no way TAA would fail, because Democrats would never vote against it.

Someone miscalculated.

At present, the answer is: We don't know what will happen with TAA.

It's a risky game the Dems are playing. It could very well end in the TAA being killed with TPA still passing. That's one possibility. Have to wait and see ;/

Pelosi said she didn't want TPA going to the President at this time.

Does reconsideration mean a revote? And does a revote in favor of TAA mean the TPA is then approved for the President?

I admit, I'm not entirely following the structure of the rules they negotiated here.

Calling a member in good standing "Blind and Ignorant" because they support something that a number of other democrats support should not be allowed. It is the most persona of attacks. Calling someone ignorant is childish and does nothing for debate. Disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, and otherwise inappropriate. It literally hits all of them.

Moreover, there is a discernible partisan split in support for specific trade agreements now under negotiation. According to another Pew Research poll, more than half the American public thinks both TPP and the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), an Obama administration trade and investment initiative with the European Union, would be good for the country. But Democrats and Republicans disagree on their merits. Just 49% of Republicans back TPP and only 44% support TTIP. Democrats are more supportive of both TTIP (60%) and TPP (59%).

http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2015/01/08/americans-agree-on-trade-good-for-the-country-but-not-great-for-jobs/

So nearly 2/3 of Democrats are blinded by "hero worship"?
