(10,007 posts)In the absence of strong-arm dictators, the borders will naturally re-align along more organic lines (e.g. culture and religion).

(16,194 posts)I do think that the oil reserves will cause a few problems in aligning those borders though.
Perhaps an inter country coalition will develop along the lines of OPEC to share the revenues.
I'm just a carpenter (semi retired) so I don't really understand all the political ramifications.

(10,007 posts)(Iraq and Libya) had secular leaders who were Pan Arab Socialists, meaning they wanted to establish a Union of Arab States as something of an Arab analog to the USSR.
Funny how those two became the Evil Genocidal Monsters, as opposed to the Saudi princes or the murderous regime in Bahrain which we gift with enormous quantities of weapons.
