Why the acronym? John Ellis Bush wants to be "JFK" ?

Is it just a cutesy frat boy thing -- Jeb (?)

And why do the rest of us have to call him by this frat boy name? If we call him "Jeb Bush" aren't we really saying "John Ellis Bush Bush"?

(am I overthinking this?)

I believe the story goes that there was another little John around the house, (cousin? brother? hard to keep track) and they needed to be able to distinguish them at dinnertime etc.

It's useful to know which Napoleon, Bach, Bush, Jackson or Clinton we're discussing.

He has been referring to "Jebbie" by his given name for quite a while now. I don't think there's much doubt that his adoption of Jeb was anything less than trying to deflect any sense that he was a fortunate son of privilege.
I'll follow the advice of a wise individual who advised us years ago to "Stay Out the Bushes!". How many times do we have to be advised on the mendacity of certain individuals or families of corrupt power to finally get the message?
You're not overthinking anything, you're just expanding your perception beyond that which is considered serious by the dominant corporate media.

Poppy, Dubya and Jeb; Barbara has several, Silver Fox, Bar, Miss Frank, The Enforcer. Marvin may be Bush Boogie, Dorothy is Doro, Pauline was Robin. I can't find one for Neil but I'll bet he has one. In doing these searches I found that Babara Bush and I share a distant Pierce relative.

The most famous example is James Ewell Brown “Jeb” Stuart, a Confederate general.

I don't know if the Bush family was inspired by such things since they are a yankee family.

There are a gazillion other things to criticize than his lifelong nickname.

IIRC, there was an issue over Jimmy Carter being listed as Jimmy on the ballot rather than James Earl Carter. BFD.
