..and the number one reason, usually, can be boiled down to the following combination of things:
-Militant fundamentalist Christianity
-Utter contempt for poor, working class, and middle class Americans
-The demonizing of opponents or those who dare disagree as "traitors" or "un-American"
-The shameless hypocrisy of so many right-wingers
-The recklessness of GOP foreign policy (Iraq being a good example of this)
-Dogmatic, absolutist, 'My way or the highway" views in general
I'm sure there are others, but one or some combination of these things, in my experience, has completely alienated many people from the GOP.

The war against women has really finished them off. I know a few GOP women who fall oddly silent when that stuff is brought up. I have a feeling they will lie to preacher, spouse and friends about having been one of the outraged women who will go into the election booth and quietly vote for Obama while publicly supporting Rmoney.

(50,355 posts)The Repukes are constantly losing support -- yet in every election, the M$M says it's so close either party could win.
Obama has thousands of supporters who come out to see him. Romney can't muster more than a few hundred at best.
At what point will election results reflect reality?
Something is fishy, the M$M can't keep up this charade much longer.

2000 was close enough to steal, due to any combination of the Nader effect, Gore's lackluster campaign, and the Media's irrational hatred of Gore.
2004, again, the media manipulated (Swift Boating) people's perceptions for Bush to steal in Ohio and Florida.
2008...Obama got nearly 53 percent of the vote.
The track record over the last two decades has favored the Democrats over the Republicans.
