Mexican Spotted Owl by Sachi Bopardikar, 11
A relative of the famous Northern spotted owl, the Mexican spotted owl ranges from Utah and Colorado to southern Mexico, living in forests and rocky formations.

The Mexican spotted owl’s numbers are shrinking as its preferred forest habitats vanish. The owl is protected as a threatened species in the U.S. and Mexico.
