Remember!
As Tet of 2012 comes to a painful end this year in Afghanistan, we should remember what my generation suffered almost 45 years ago.
![]() ![]() ![]() How many more of these memorials must we build? How many more human beings must we kill?

2. my own feeling is that americans will change when they finally see war
as a business -- a business that does not benefit them.
but does benefit a very few. they have to own up to the fact that they are being taken for a ride -- with the star spangled banner playing in the background. sorry if i sound bitter. |

3. When we wake up and smell the Ike
On subjects ranging from the military industrial complex to 91% tax rates for the wealthiest, Ike was right. And our country throve, and we were at peace.
Sadly, it is quite fashionable these days to ignore history in favor of "stuff that sounds good". And we 99% suffer, suffer. |

5. When we put a stop to career politicians we might
see these wars end.
We need to return to "for the people, by the people" to see change. |

6. I agree but...
I think bought politicians is more of a problem than career politicians. We MUST end the "corporations are people" idea and find a way to truly restrict campaign contributions. THEN we will see "of the people, by the people, and for the people." The problem with the right wing right now is that they don't see (or care) that tyranny of corporations is as bad as tyranny of the government, and that part of the proper role of government is to protect the people from ALL tyranny.

8. The politicians most controlled by money (bought) are typically career politicians
I see them as one in the same essentially.
You're right though, the corporations need to be removed from the political process completely. |

9. It is called fear.
The Domino Theory, Saddam Hussein, and now the nuclear weapons of Iran. Those in power scare the public into thinking there are no other alternatives. War is the answer. Young men die for nothing. The war profiteers get richer. It goes on and on.

11. War Inc. are us. War is an extension of a capitalist society.
It must exist to protect and expand business assets.
Until we reign in corporate power and greed expect more of the same. |

Because, god knows, communist societies NEVER go to war!

13. Ok. War is an extension of human behavior.
I'm on board with that. Every political system known to exist, except perhaps the Buddhists and their like, uses war as a political and economic tool.

16. Just how many damn more is the question! Endless war and imprisonment are
two of Richie Riches' modern day methods of social control.
