Univision sacks Emmy-winning host after he says Michelle Obama 'looks like she's part of the cast of Planet Of The Apes'

He was discussing the work of a make-up artist who had transformed himself into Michelle Obama

By late Wednesday evening the network had removed his photo from their website and confirmed that they had fired him


At the Daytime Emmy Awards last June Figueroa had won the Outstanding Daytime Talent in the Spanish category

In a statement the network confirmed that it has fired Figueroa over his racist remarks.

'Yesterday during the entertainment show El Gordo y La Flaca, Rodner Figueroa made comments about First Lady Michelle Obama that were completely reprehensible and in no way reflect the values or opinions of Univision. As a result, Mr. Figueroa was fired immediately,' read a statement from Univision.

The only post I've ever had hidden at DU was when I suggested that a particular photo of Condi Rice reminded me of Dr. Zira ... purely for the hairdo, nothing else. I wasn't even thinking race, but I understood why it got hidden once it was pointed out to me.

This instance here seems a bit more blatant and the firing justified.
