The SOTU will be very interesting IF

Obama continues on his populist theme (which is polling very well among voters) and IF Joni Ernst comes up with more bullshit "class warfare" in her repuke response, I think we got a dandy head start out of the gate on 2016.

Oh, can it possibly BE that the country has finally woken up to the fraud that the GOP has perpetrated on it with all its "corporations are people" and "job creators" BS? Plus the religious insanity of the right, and the virulent anti-woman, anti reproductive rights crap coming out of their mouths!

So far, so good. I'm keeping my fingers crossed on this one. How about you?

I don't know that I'm as optimistic as you, one can only hope.

reached a point in this economic experience that has led them to believe that the GOP mojo as a national issue isn't going well. I think this is a wonderful turn of events and I'll bet even Obama is a bit taken by surprise. Now the GOP has to play "catch up" and I don't know how they can do it. What new flim flam can they come up with?

that are iffy voting for dems, maybe some republican women who are fed up with the anti-woman party. I am not terribly optimistic but I feel better than I did immediately after the mid-terms.

outlier as an election, given the geography of what elections took place where. It might have been just one of those strange convergences that cannot predict the national mood for president in 2016. Not "making excuses" but it seems that some of the losing Dem candidates have now realized they should never have "run away" from Obama as they did. Somebody was off base giving them that advice...

I think running away from Obama was a mistake at least in most cases. Frankly, here in GA the statewide dem candidates have to walk a very narrow line to have any chance at all, not that it did them any good this time. I also wonder about voter suppression...we really need to make that a priority as close as many elections are.

I hope he comes up with something that he CAN do. I know that the states leges are the ones responsible and he can't change that, but really, something HAS to be done...

"legalize" suppression, not much that he can do that I know of, but I am far from an expert. I think a lot states are gerrymandered to the point it will take decades to undo. sigh.

These jackasses are crazy, and I'm surprised they even let a SOTU happen. They have no respect for our President.
