Chris Christie throwing fit in Wisconsin.

Top right in red sweater. Jerry Jones to the left.

Edit: For those who are not NFL Football fans, this was after the officials reversed a 4th down call that basically caused Christie's Dallas Cowboys to lose 26-21 to the Green Bay Packers. Christie's team, owned by Texas mega-billionaire Jerry Jones lost to the Packers, a team owned by the citizens of Wisconsin and not some asshole repuke billionaire.

Might as well name that team "the Assassins," given all that the city has "contributed" to the body politic...

I'm not a big fan of either team.

I would not be surprised if during the off season the rule in question gets modified.

I never thought it was a catch. On replay, one view clearly shows that the ball bounced into the air after contact with the ground. The player clearly did not have control of the ball completely through the landing. Thus, no catch. The initial call was wrong, not the replay.

came out of the runner's hands and squirts up into the air before he grabs it again. There were no obvious football moves after the catch that would have demonstrated control. The little bit of stretching he did was not enough to demonstrate control. The ruling on the field was correctly reversed.

It's a really dumb rule but it is the rule. The ground can't cause a fumble but it can cause and incompletion. The ball can hit the ground during the catch as long as it is still in possession. The fact that it never hit the ground makes no difference in this case.

They still could have gotten the ball back if they had stopped the opposing one legged QB but they couldn't do that.

that's the thing. Either the ground causes an incompletion or it causes a fumble. Generally -- though not in this case -- a fumble is a bigger game-changer than an incompletion. So the rule as it now is makes the outcome less dependent on the referees than it was when the ground could cause a fumble. Thinking it through that way changed my mind.

As for Dallas, sauce for the goose ....

the inconsistency with the rule. If he is down he is down and the play is over since the ground can't cause a fumble if the runner is down can it cause and incomplete pass - evidently it can but it is a rule that violates other rules.

And Christie help Jones get a lucrative deal from the NY/NJ Port Authority.

So it is significant.

His team losing is just gravy.

I only rooted (half-heartedly) for the Cowboys because my boyfriend is a fan.
