Boehner laid out the agreement he forged to temporarily renew the payroll tax holiday one his members will hate and said the goal is to pass the new bill by unanimous consent on Friday morning. That means if even a single recalcitrant Republican objects to his plan, the chaos will drag on for several days.

That pretty much sums it up. Unless the GOP threatens to withold campaign cash from the recalitrent teabaggers, you know at least one teabagging wingnut will step out of line.

(31,997 posts)He can sign the bill there. He does not have to be in DC. Unanimous consent means the full House won't vote on it. There may be as few as 5 or 10 who vote on it. As long as no one objects it is legal. Most House members are already back in their districts.
