re: the sensitive stuff in the Torture Report that will @#$& up our international relations

and cause global rioting...

Maybe if we did something wild, like... oh... bring the war criminals to justice, rather than giving 'em promotions and proclaiming them to be patriots who love their country, it might go some ways in not getting people mad at us.

Some believe in UFOs, some believe in yeti, I believe in equal justice for all under the law.

Whatever.

is to stop doing bad things, not to hide the things you do.

Most people learn this as children.

Generally, the answer is to just deal with the truth.

Not any of this happens in a vacuum, not any of this happens without decades of structural support.

Pretending that it's a one off, that it's *over with*, is like pretending that Abu Ghraib was the product of "a few bad apples", it's a ridiculous assertion, counter-factual. In fact it sets my teeth on edge because it is so incredibly wrong.

If you are doing something you don't want anyone to know about, then that's something you shouldn't do.

And someone has made up some new rules...Torture is now legal, because they are patriots who want to keep us safe.
We are down the rabbit hole.

... it will be the torture report that causes us problems abroad.

Cops shooting unarmed teens and "patriots" torturing our "enemies" are not a problem, it's all that bright light.

Yeah, that's it.
