Dr. Craig Spencer, the New York City doctor who tested positive for Ebola after treating patients in Guinea, has recovered and been declared free of the virus. Health officials say he will be released from his Manhattan treatment center on Tuesday.

(111,405 posts)and lied about it because Cuomo and Christie were stupid and panicky and is now afraid to seek treatment. That's the nightmare and why panic is worse than the disease.
I'm not particularly afraid of this scenario. No one wants to die of this disease, it is incredibly horrible, and people will seek treatment here because they are likely to survive here.
I just think it's erroneous and premature to declare the crisis over. It's not.

(18,115 posts)Even still. The US is Ebola-free. The only case which was in the US has been successfully treated. I fully expect there to be more cases come into the US, and I expect they will be contained.

(111,405 posts)and hospitals, even community hospitals in Podunk, need to be able to protect other patients and staff until new patients who will eventually come in can be transferred to a large hospital where they can be cared for properly.
The Ebola crisis won't be over, as you said, until it is over in Africa and that is probably going to take a vaccine.

(22,457 posts)Most people understand what he meant. There's no active cases of ebola in the United States right now.
And all the people freaking out about him having to 100.3 fever and going bowling when he didn't have a fever can quit freaking out now and go back to find something else to freak out about.
