Letter to the editor complains that Obama wants equal outcome, not opportunity
GRAAARGH! I've heard that BS right wing talking point ENOUGH already on talk radio and people in my community, including this letter to my local paper:
President Barack Obama's fairness policy threatens to develop a culture of dependency that could undermine our society. When Obama pushes for equal outcomes instead of equal opportunity, one group of Americans opposes the other. He is telling people it is not right or fair that one group has something that the other group does not have.
True fairness requires equal opportunity so that all may pursue their dreams, which is the idea America was founded on.
Policies that promote growth and opportunity, rather than more taxes and spending, is what made America great. Let's not pick on the rich, let's make more rich people. A society without rich people will ultimately perish, like communism.

This letter is dribbling with so much stupid...what Obama fairness policy that is stealing from the rich to hand out to the have-nots is he talking about? The Ledbetter Paycheck Act? Renewing the Bush tax cuts? The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau?
Oh yeah, this Stiasny guy also wrote a letter "Gingrich should be our next president" back in January. Yeah, that Gingrich who wants poor kids to be little janitors and who called Obama the food stamp president.

in the USA. The people who spout the diarrhea that you mention are a huge minority in the Bay area. But unfortunately they are also often the loudest. Just stay away from working at law firms and military arms manufacturers (like Lockheed) and you'll be alright. I know because I lived for most of my life in the Bay Area before recently moving to the southern rim of Yosemite. What a shock. Can you say right wing, red neck, neo-fascist nazi six times without getting tongue tied? On election days, they used to have a separate table just for the greens, but they had to give it up because apparently I am the only one who has ever used it.
