Well, that didnt take long.
For awhile, the Republican plan had been just to ramp up the fear campaign on Ebola and blame President Obama for failed leadership. Most of the nutty conspiracy theory banter had been left to Fox News or conservative columnists. Now a Republican has actually taken up one of these conspiracy theories.
Republican Rep. Steve Stockman of Texas publicly accused President Obama of unleashing the Ebola virus upon the American people in a scheme to seize more power for himself during a Monday chat with Rick Wiles on his radio program.
I think, what was it, executive order 1332 or 33, where Obama has laid out its a great Forbes article too, you can read about it but he talks about using emergency powers to take over control of the economy and everything. Of course our friends at snoops [Snopes.com] say its false, then you read about it and it turns out to be true. I think, I dont know, their terminology is theres always a crisis which they want to use to their benefit, I would not be surprised that the reason that you see a lack of response is so that it becomes a real crisis and things can be used to correct the crisis, you know.
Heres the thing. After searching for such a Forbes article, it turns out it doesnt exist. Nor is there a Snopes report about an executive order 1332 or 1333. There is, however, a Snopes report on executive order 13603. The order outlines National Defense Resources Preparedness. The order has been consistently renewed since 1951 by every president since that time, including twice by former President George W. Bush. It was most recently amended by President Obama in 2012, which prompted a Republican congresswoman from Texas to blow the whole thing out of proportion with a charge of conspiracy. According to an email sent to her constituents, Kay Granger accused President Obama of signing an execuitve order that gives an unprecedented level of authority to the President and the federal government to take over all the fundamental parts of our economy in the name of national security in times of national emergency.

should go outside and check.

is that for at least at the congressional level, it isn't that they are smart enough to tell lies and obfuscations to manipulate people, it is that most of them are stupid enough to actually buy into it themselves.
