Do Republicans support the "common good"?

And how do they interpret the Preamble to our Constitution when it talks about "promoting the general welfare"? Does that include everyone or just the top 1% or just the business sector?

Would there be a Center for Disease Control (CDC) if the conservatives had their way? How much danger would the country be in, from the Ebola virus, if we did not have the CDC?

Whose side are they really on?

They are in it to become the feudal lords over the rest of society.

Is their argument for massive military spending.

And no there would be no CDC, FDA, EPA, etc...if they had their (at least the current crop) had their way.

Policy that promotes the 'common good', ie, to protect real people in places they live (safe working conditions, food safety, truth in advertising laws, clean air/water) is considered to be "onerous regulations" and "costs jobs". It's akin to paying someone to dig their own grave and build their own coffins.

Republican thinking is ignorant and malignant, and it's dragging the entire planet into the shitter.

Good point about the CDC. That was on several of their lists when (p)Rick Perry "oops"'ed it.

The 1% fall to infectious disease too. Look at the famous wealthy people that died in the 80s from Aids. It is the sane reason we promote things like national health care and a national education system. We all benefit from having a healthy populace with the ability to react to infectious disease and just like we all benefit from a well educated populace. Republican policies put everyone in danger even the 1%. That is the humor of it all.
