That super cute video of a beagle helping with Lost & Found in an airport? Sorry, but it was a hoax.

AMSTERDAM — It was all a lie.

KLM airlines does not actually employ the world’s most adorable beagle to find lost iPhones at the airport in Amsterdam.

It was all a marketing stunt.

In an interview given to a Dutch news organization the company confirmed the disappointing news.

“A real dog, such as seen in the promo film that KLM launched on Twitter today, is not a part of the Lost & Found team.”

Global advertising agency DDB & Tribal Worldwide is responsible for creating the video.

And the internet wept for what could have been.

We owned a beagle. Actually, she owned us. Beagles are part of the United States Customs team...they hunt out contraband food. Beagles have big snouts. They're "scent hounds." They wouldn't give a rat's ass about a cell phone.

this was called guerrilla marketing. Now it is called viral marketing. I do not see how anyone could have thought it was a real activity done by KLM. there are just too many scents in an airport and people keep moving. Scent dogs always have handlers with them as well.

I bet every ad agency in the world that has a major airline for a client is envious and angry that they did not think of this idea themselves. The other airlines are asking their own ad agencies 'why aren't you guys coming up with ideas like this?'

because some people don't like being hoaxed. I have to put up with enough lies from my employer and politicians.
