The latest Ground Hog Poll...

Seems like we have seen these before?

It happens before every election. Everyone gets all strung out over the latest polls showing that their Party or their candidate is behind and losing ground to the Republican.

And it always seems to happen about this time in the election process??

I have come to the opinion that it is best to ignore these polls. They always show the Republicans winning. They are discouraging to read about. Mitt Romney was way ahead of Barack Obama before the last presidential election, if you recall? But, in reality, he wasn't. The same applies to the present polls.

Ignore them. Most are not meant to help your Party. The only poll that counts is on election day. Save your energy that you waste worrying about the latest poll and instead spend it on getting your friends out to vote.

if your candidate is behind even by a significant amount GOTV

if your candidate is ahead even by a significant amount GOTV

Because voting isn't just for chosing one person for one office. It isn't just about chosing people for mulitple offices. It's about having a minimum committment to civic duty and about letting your vote be counted even if you candidate loses at least people will know by how much you can possibly keep a politician from saying they have a mandate. Even if that didn't keep Sparky from claiming a mandate at least an honorable politician won't claim that when they lose a popular vote.

Since about 95% of incumbents win re-election, just check their numbers from the last election and add or subtract one or two points. How can you go wrong?

because some numbers do appear to have been pulled from ... Any who I suspect that is what happened when I see a big upset.

"Save your energy that you waste worrying about the latest poll and instead spend it on getting your friends out to vote."

Absolutely right! I've been able to make a young friend aware of how politics affects his life on a daily basis, so that he is now newly politically aware and interested -- and he has registered to vote for the very first time at nearly 30 years of age. And now he's bringing some of his friends around....
