I think the wealth privilege of the man on the right enables him to not only live an opulent lifestyle, it enables him and those like him to use the political and media infrastructure of the country to fool non-wealthy people into voting against their own interests.

But I want to make sure my position is clear, Gender, Orientation, Race and various other factors are all powerful impacts on a persons privilege or lack thereof. However, I believe that wealth is more powerful still.

The entire point of the person on the left is that his opinion is irrational in every way. He is not making those statements in some sort of enlightened state of recognizing his privilege.

There is no possibly way that " 'gays' are ruining his life" or women, minorities, etc. He has been duped by the man on the right and others like him to believe that.

The guy on the left lives in a state of ignorance with a complete lack of a greater world view. His thinking is narrow-minded, provincial, etc and he feels he is absolutely right and everyone else who doesn't think like he does is not only wrong, but un-American, a socialist or communist (the same thing as a liberal), a threat to his "liberty". He also equates "liberty" as the "free" market system, free of big government intervention/regulations. Gays are a threat to his "traditional American values", illegals are a threat to his job and blacks are a threat to his safety.

The guy on the right knows exactly how the guy on the left thinks and uses it to get millions just like him to elect people who will turn his one bag-o-cash into 20.

The guy on the left doesn't realize that the guy on the right is fucking him over blind while using him to work against his own interests.

The guy on the right is very happy about being able to dupe dupes and make tons of $$$ in the process. He doesn't give a shit about gays, illegals, blacks or even the good ole U.S. Of A. The only thing he cares about is profit.

In order to truly flip this country, we've got to find some way to break through the false consciousness that drives people like the guy in the overalls.

This kind of humor works on the assumption that there's no chance of that and that those people should be treated like they're dead losses.

Do we really have the luxury of going there?

Republicans, perhaps more than some. As a group, LGBT folks earn more and have more disposable income than straights, that makes them a better target for GOP tax policies. Hard to say for sure, but it seems likely. I think that explains Log Cabins.

Review:
......In the past, if someone knew nothing and talked nonsense, no one paid any attention to
him. No more. Now such people are courted and flattered by conservative politicians and
ideologues as “Real Americans” defending their country against big government and
educated liberal elites. The press interviews them and reports their opinions seriously
without pointing out the imbecility of what they believe. The hucksters, who manipulate
them for the powerful financial interests, know that they can be made to believe anything,
because, to the ignorant and the bigoted, lies always sound better than truth:
Christians are persecuted in this country.
The government is coming to get your guns.
Obama is a Muslim.
Global Warming is a hoax.
The president is forcing open homosexuality on the military.
Schools push a left-wing agenda.
Social Security is an entitlement, no different from welfare.
Obama hates white people.
The life on earth is 10,000 years old and so is the universe.
The safety net contributes to poverty.
The government is taking money from you and giving it to sex-crazed college women
to pay for their birth control.
