ooops. driver filmed deliberately crashing his $1 Million Bugatti for the insurance funds

US driver faces 20 years in jail after he DELIBERATELY crashed his Bugatti Veyron into a swamp to claim $2.2m insurance

Andy Lee House crashed his 2006 Bugatti Veyron into water near Galveston, Texas in November 2009, claiming he had swerved to avoid a pelican
But he was unaware that a passing motorist had recorded the crash and the video revealed there was no pelican
House left the engine running - claiming he was getting badly bitten by mosquitoes - and the water flooded the engine and destroyed the vehicle
He had paid for the car with a $1 million loan and then bought collector's insurance, valuing the car at $2.2 million just three weeks before the crash
He faces up to 20 years in federal prison when sentenced

How can a rich person go to jail? Isn't this America?

On the other hand, he's really lucky. If he'd been black, the cops would have shot him outright for being too close to the Bugatti.

I just didn't know how to make do without that 2.2 million so I had no choice but to splash my supercar and try to ripoff the insurance company.

Too bad they can't add on a couple of kicks in the nuts to any sentence for being such an overall douchebag.

But ripping off an insurance company? Not gonna fly. You have to be more affluent than your victim.
