CONFIRMED: Cop Who Threatened Ferguson Protestors Is Lt. Ray Albers
Albers, 46, a 20-year police veteran who served four years in the Army, is the man caught on video screaming at protestors, "I will fucking kill you," while pointing his rifle at civilians, St. Ann Police Chief Aaron Jimenez told The Huffington Post Wednesday night.
Albers told the chief he was sick to his stomach and "should have known better," Jimenez said. He has been placed on indefinite, unpaid suspension from the force while an investigation is underway.
"It's frustrating, because we told [our officers] before we went down there that there would be lots of people trying to antagonize to provoke them into saying something," Jimenez said. "Whether youre a pedestrian or protestor, you have to be professional, and [Albers'] actions weren't in any way, shape or form."
Stress and fear may have contributed to the confrontation, Jimenez said, but didn't excuse the officer's behavior. However, the police chief said his department supports Albers' raising of his weapon at protestors.

(89,287 posts)and no, people don't have to be professional.
even people who work in crap customer service type jobs like fast food , retail etc are taught to deal with assholes . and nothing would justify them getting violent and threatening them.
standards for public officials like police officers should be a lot higher than someone working at mcdonalds.

Subject: RE: KSDK phone call
Last night, during one of the many recent
conflicts in Ferguson, a St. Ann officer had
bottles of urine and water thrown on him.
The officer then raised his weapon after seeing a
gun in the crowd, he continued to scan the
area trying to assess the scene. While
assessing the scene he asked several people
including a member of the media to move.
The media person refused to cooperate and in
an attempt to keep the public safe, my officer
used profanity with the public and told the
media person that he was going to kill him if
he didn't move.
We certainly do not condone the verbiage that
was used and the officer will be counseled on
his choice of words.
The officer is suspended without pay until further investigation.
The St. Ann Police Department regrets this
unfortunate situation and hopes for a peaceful
resolution in Ferguson.
