I want to thank all of you who, despite the idiocy (yes, I'm guilty) going on in GD, post stuff that is meant to inform others about what is going on around us. You're up against a mighty headwind of useless time-wasting while Rome burns.
I sometimes allow myself to be drawn in to the stupidity only because when I attempt to post something useful and it doesn't generate a GD Controversy, it usually dies a lonely death, as many of your posts do. Just know that, though I may not comment often, I do appreciate your efforts.
Thank you.

(8,360 posts)I too get caught up reading the controversial flaming threads and overlook the ones that may provide some useful information.

(9,463 posts)page, with the point being that it was covered in stupid posts, one of which was (admittedly) mine. It was quite a funny setup, bravo once again WillyT! Anyway, one of the posts on that page was from HOF where members were making fun of people in GD: http://www.democraticunderground.com/125545591 Need I say more? Doesn't matter, because I'd rather not.

(32,139 posts)Occupy is dispersed with pepper spray and intimidation. Journalism is criminalized. Whistleblowers are persecuted. Broadcast media is purchased. Our internet is handed to corporations. Our government funds disinformation, propaganda, and smear campaigns against its own citizens.
And political "discussions" on the internet are no longer what they appear to be.
Doctor_J
(36,392 posts)But I look at the Greatest page and it's rife with fawning pictures of the president and first lady, vanity posts ("Yes! Misogyny Is Real!!", "Thanks, Mr. President", "Cut the crap" . I think it's a way of keeping their fingers in their ears when the true story of the "recovery" and other issues come up. Around 40 DUers, probably mostly BOGers, have me on ignore, while I have almost no one. Since our party is the only hope of salvaging the country, declaring Obama "the most productive and liberal president in the history of mankind" and tuning out Race To The Bottom, All Of The Above, Fracking, Offshore Drilling, TPP, KXL, and any other bad news is unhelpful. And the fluff posters are the ones who keep telling us that November is the most crucial election in 30 years.
Well, then let's fix the party so it will win.

(55,981 posts)planned, he stuck his thumb in the eye of the left with Rick Warren. He didnt have to do that, but it was a message heard loud and clear. After getting elected Pres Obama no longer needed the left. He started courting the right of center with his appointments of almost all conservatives. Some even Bush people. But Ms. Clinton-Sachs may face a public that is tired of Wall Street dominance. But I think it's too late for her to try to court the left. She has cast the die and now she has to lie in it.
Will money win in 2016 or THe People?

(50,983 posts)And what about the 2014 election? Can you imagine those idiots in charge of the government? I mean, it's bad enough.
Maybe the president would appear on TV and say, "Elections have consequences." Then he could sign every piece of GOP legislation that came up the pike. Seems like we've see this before.
A few days ago a second republican friend told me she would vote for Clinton over just about any repub candidate. I asked her which repub candidate would win her vote over Clinton & she thought for a moment & said, "I can't think of a one, right now."
I asked in another thread, if TPP passes, do we even need Congress, SCOTUS or POTUS?

(13,324 posts)Our country's (and even much of our Party's) attitudes toward labor are shameful. This is not in question. But the blame certainly doesn't lie with some imagined strawman of a Social Justice Warrior.
Yes, some people are far too dismissive of class issues, and should be ashamed to call themselves progressives (assuming they do). But what of those who dismiss anything to do with race or gender and insist that only class matters?

(154,021 posts)for the 2014 firestorm... the report itself has a few good nuggets, but not for here. I have been told repeatedly that San Diego news does not matter. It is like it is happening in another country.
Also working on one on the NEBR report to the President and income inequality, again, not for here. Been told plenty of times that does not matter...
But fuck it, they get hysterical over an article full of expletives dealing with Iraq and Chenney. But not about Iraq or Chenney, just the language... MY GOD, the Language, think of the children!!!!

A lot of them no longer post much here because of the toxic attitude of some...who want them to STFU and be outraged about things that don't mean shit in the long run.
So my hats off to them and may the live forever on DU.
