DISH: Americas Worst 55. My TV officially sucks! Checking out RT America for a news fix.

Officially it's called the DISH Smart Pack. FOX "News" being the only big time cable news channel blows that out of the water!

I had to cut back. I couldn't justify the 200 channel package I had. I'm saving $50 a month and probably will be looking to dump it completely. I bundle my internet with DISH though. I'm not sure you can just go DISH internet only.

It was getting so that aside from MSNBC, I was watching mostly DVD's anyway. On weekends, sometimes I was only watching CSPAN-2 Book TV at night and in the morning. I still get both C-SPANS so that should make weekends about the same. Book TV can be pretty interesting and good for something to listen to while waiting to fall asleep.

RT America started off today with Thom Hartman but I missed most of that. I'll be watching him quite a bit. I have the Netflix three DVD at a time plan. I save a few of those and send them back to get a quick turnaround sometimes. Ramp up my reading a little and I should be pretty content. Gonna miss Rachel though, unless I get with it and start watching her online or something.

This is the international Website live broadcast for MSNBC.

It also allows for a tie-in to Comedy Central to watch Jon Stewart and others. I haven't explored it extensively, but I don't even have a TV.

RT America, though, what are they thinking? Al Jazeera America is a bit better, just don't expect them to say nice things about Israel.

3. I'm not sure this package has Al Jazeera America but I haven't explored it that thoroughly.

I thought of that already. I'll go through and look for it. I was cruising and saw Thom Hartman on and stopped at RT. I only switched to this today after I got off work early.

Bush days when it was called a 'terrorist' channel, much like what they are trying to do to RT now. Two RT were killed in Ukraine this week by the Kiev Govt. Not surprised considering the propaganda against them. It gave me falshbacks to when we were killing Al Jazeera reporters.

These are professional people doing their jobs and they are from all over the world. It is SHAMEFUL that the US has said not a single word about the killing of those reporters.

Reporters Without Borders have stated that the Ukraine situation has been devastating for news reporters, worse even than Iraq, and that is saying a lot.

I will do with RT what I did with AJ when they were under attack by the Western Imperialists, I donated to AJ and told everyone I knew to watch them online in order to try to protect them from the targeting of their reporters by the Bush War Criminals.

But since they are now on US TV, they are far, far less interesting. They stopped taking my donation for some reason. I guess they know why we supported them, and at least deserve credit for not taking donations when they are not willing to take the risks to tell the truth they once were famous for.

6. AJA is refreshing because their newscasters don't use loaded language

I stopped watching news in 2004 when all I had was broadcast news and I was out of work and noticed what they'd become in the 20 or so years when I rarely tuned in. I tune into AJA once in a blue moon, stay for a while if it's an in depth story of interest to me. I just know where the biases are. I do agree they've started to tiptoe a little more since they began Al Jazeera English online.

RT is likely the same, just know where their editorial biases are.

8. I am not interested in the editorial side of any news organization. I expect biases there.

I watch RT International News coverage for the same reason I used to watch AJ's news coverage, because the coverage is, was excellent with reporters risking their lives to bring reports from on the ground in conflicts around the world. We have no such type of coverage in the US anymore.

RIP to the RT reporters who lost their lives in Ukraine and to the AJ reporters who lost theirs, starting with the bombing of the Bethlehem Hotel in IRaq, deliberately as people all over the globe believe, and as they now believe regarding the RT reporters.

I see no loaded language in either AJ's original Iraq/Afghanistan reporting, nor now, in RT's excellent and courageous reporting from Ukraine. But it is dangerous to report on the Western Imperial wars, we all know that by now. Which makes these young reporters all the more courageous. I feared for them, hoping it wouldn't happen. But it has, just like AJ.

Corporate Media. RT is excellent for seeing some of the Liberal Voices not allowed on our Corporate Media and for International News. Al Jazeera is nowhere near as good as it used to be since they succeeded in getting on US TV but still far superior to anything on the Corporate Media. CCTV is also interesting to watch especially it's world news.

We also cut back since most of what we get is advertising, sports, porn which I guess you have to pay for, religion, dozens of Spanish channels which are mostly soap operas.

There are some good music channels and we Syrius as part of the package.

and I don't get why FOX is the only news channel on the lower priced packages. Is FOX sending their newscasts out for free or something? Certainly the owners of DISH know that fox is not a real news channel. In fact, how could they even consider it a news channel?
