'Duck Dynasty' Continues to Slide

GOOD

To every thing there is a season -- and duck season's time is clearly waning. The sixth season of A&E mega-hit Duck Dynasty debuted on Wednesday night, averaging 4.3 million viewers after a season of significant ratings fatigue earlier in the year.

It should go without saying that this latest drop, just more than half of January's 8.5 million start for season five, still leaves Duck Dynasty as cable's reigning reality show. But looking at less than a year ago, when the show opened to an all-time record 11.77 million viewers in August, past highs are now clearly quite far out of reach.

he seemed like a nice guy. Everyone has a crazy relative who says stupid things. I still have never watched the show, but from seeing the commercials I ask myself why anyone would find it amusing.

I saw two episodes, back to back with friends who seem to like the show, and the plot was the same in both of them: "Lookit us, we're dumb as a bag of rocks, isn't that funny?"

Yes, initially it is a bit humorous, but after about 15-20 minutes, you realize that the Dynasty is just using this stupid hick act to clean up big time with sales of their products. You eventually become aware that it's like watching a stereotypically-acting person of color pandering to what he thinks white racists want to see about people of his ethnicity.

I made that up, but I bet she'd agree.
