Hate your television or Internet provider? Youre far from alone: Time Warner Cable and Comcast earned bottom-of-the-barrel scores in a consumer satisfaction survey published Tuesday.
It gets worse:
We asked ACSI to provide us with customer satisfaction scores for every company in every industry that they cover and it turns out that Comcast and TWC have the lowest customer satisfaction ratings of any of them.
In fact, Comcast and TWCs Internet service businesses were the only two businesses in the United States to score below a 60 on the ACSIs 100-point scale. Whats most amazing is that both Comcast and TWC have even lower customer satisfaction ratings than United Airlines, which has a notoriously bad reputation in an industry that, due in part to government security requirements, is known for delivering a miserable experience.
Other notable companies that had higher customer satisfaction scores than Comcast and TWC included Bank of America, perennially unpopular wireless carrier Sprint, health insurance giant Aetna and the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. Its unfortunate that ACSI didnt ask how people felt about Skeletor, Gargamel and Cobra Commander, because we get the feeling that Comcast and TWC would have had lower ratings than them as well

Skeletor, Gargamel and Cobra Commander are tops in my book compared to Comcast.

They'll raise your bill one month, and three months later they'll increase it again. And so on.

But if the trend of consumers rejecting cable or satellite video subscriptions accelerates and research shows younger Americans are less likely to have pay TV than their elders the industry could spiral into a painful retreat.
For the first time over a full-year period, the U.S. pay-TV segment in 2013 registered a decline in subscriptions, according to a report from research firm SNL Kagan. The aggregate 251,000 net loss among cable, satellite and telco TV providers was infinitesimal representing just 0.02% of 110.2 million total pay-TV households at year-end.
Thats just a drop in the bucket, to be sure. But whats worrisome for pay-TV providers and networks alike is that millennials (ages 16-34) are considerably more likely than non-millennials (35-64) to not have a cable or satellite subscription. Among millennials, 13% say they have no pay TV, compared with 9% of the older cohort, according to a Verizon survey of 1,000 consumers.
