TPM buried the lede: Patriot Leader Who Threatened To Rip Reid's Balls-Lives off Gov Disabilty Check
Militia Leader Threatens To Rip Reid’s Balls Off Over Bundy ‘Civil War’
![]() http://forums.talkingpointsmemo.com/t/discussion-militia-leader-threatens-to-rip-reids-balls-off-over-bundy-civil-war-video/2544/13 I can't believe TPM buried the lede. The Patriot Leader Mike Vanderboegh is on Social Security disability. He was the idiot that encouraged Tea partiers to throws rocks at Congressional offices. He travels around the county on his SS disability checks protecting the border in Arizona, rallying for gun rights in Virginia and now in Nevada with fellow welfare grazing owner Cliven Bundy. The minute I saw his name in the story I remember this guy and his disability story from the Post: Vanderboegh said he once worked as a warehouse manager but now lives on government disability checks. He said he receives $1,300 a month because of his congestive heart failure, diabetes and hypertension. He has private health insurance through his wife, who works for a company that sells forklift products.

16. Well if he is so disabled shouldn't he be staying home?
I mean I remember as a kid the few times I told my Mom I was too sick to go to school. She told me if I was that sick then I needed to stay in bed which meant at that time no television because there was only one television in the living room.
So if this guy is so disabled as to get a check from us then he needs to stay home and take care of those conditions. He shouldn't be out stressing himself out screaming stupidity. That might raise his blood pressure. Wait, actually that might be a good thing. If he works himself into a frenzy and has a massive heart attack or stroke and it kills him we will be free of a stupid loudmouth and one less "taker". I say that only in jest because I do not wish any person ill. But the thought is there. They think it is okay for them to be takers and spout off against the government that is providing them with "free money" and then go on to talk about the other "takers", i.e. black and brown people. |

I doubt Koch would be paying them to lounge around with no national media around. Billy Bob with his 300 twitter followers don't count as national media and where Koch goes, Fox follows. Fox left a long time ago. This is what a Koch production looks like (check out the premade signs, speakers and flags): [img] ![]() And after Fox left [img] ![]() I doubt the Koch bothers would be giving them FEMA supplies either. [img] ![]() [img] ![]() Most of the "supplies" in that photo is stuff they don't really need which leads me to believe it was stolen, we already know that most of them are mooching off welfare, disability and vet programs to stay there otherwise they wouldnt be there on a weekday lounging around. Maybe I'm wrong but I think Fox/Koch packed up and high tailed it after Clueless Bozo started mouthing off about "the negros" and right now they are praying that none of this comes up in 2015-16 debates. I have my doubts about the Kook Brothers being involved at this time. |

54. Government isn't the enemy
Ronal Reagan did this nation a grave disservice when he said government isn't the solution; it is the problem. This accelerated the trend toward deregulation and privatization, and ultimately ensured that our government, ostensibly of, by and for the people, has been bought and paid for by corporate interests.
Government is not now, and has never been the enemy. The enemy is the corporate interests, which are dominated by the military-industrial complex Ike warned us about. Now that we're an inch away from being an oligarchy, we see our government, the people we've elected to represent us, representing the interests of the very rich and big corporations at our expense. Yet, individual taxpayers such as we pay in over 83% of the government's total tax revenue, and corporations less that 10%. In 1944, individuals paid in 53% and corporations 35%. So basically we're spending more and more and getting less and less. It is still possible for us to take back our government by staying in communication with those we elect and holding them accountable for what they do, but most Americans are apathetic, maybe because we've been 'dumbed down' over many years as corporatism has created a culture of militant ignorance with its propaganda and downgraded our public schools with its cancerous tendrils. Now, the big moneyed interests have created and funded Tea Parties all over the United States and we have government gridlock. The problem is that, like Germany of the 1920s and 30s, they foolishly think they can control these people once they are in power. Many want to impose a theocracy on this nation. Theocracy plus oligarchy equals fascism. So back to this ignorant man who is receiving SSDI benefits yet preaching revolution against the government. He clearly believes in what he is saying, but this militia movement is truly dangerous to everything this nation once stood for. Do you know that these people are stopping people on the road and demanding papers? Proof of address? Sowing fear among the people of this small town? And our government isn't doing anything to fix it. Very alarming. I wonder what this man will think when the government is overthrown and he suddenly finds himself without his monthly SSDI check. Do you think he will realize his mistake? If these people are going to tear this country down, then what will they replace it with? Do they even have a plan? Or maybe God will miracle us a new government... |

Either he has other assets or someone is funding him.
People who live solely on OASDI payments of any kind are lucky to eat, let alone travel the country. And this is more so of disability than any other OASDI payment because disability cut short the worker's contributions to the OASDI fund and the monthly amount is based on the contribution. I have no problem attacking this guy for his hypocrisy, MAYBE even possibly faking a disability, but let's not make believe that $1300 a month is what's enabling him to travel the country. |
