Tuesday after the first Monday in October

How would you feel about moving Election Day to October? I think the generally nicer weather would increase turnout, which is a Good Thing. (I'm thinking of starting one of those White House petitions.)

1. Now that you mention it, why not, or maybe even August or September.

And, it should be a national holiday! No brainer, in my opinion.

as each race is declared, the winner is sworn into office and begins work immediately. And while we are at it. All US Congressmen are elected by their entire state, not in congressional districts.

Other than that it's a perfect idea.

You should start a petition.

Tuesday after the first Monday in September would be the day after Labor Day, so I think a lot of people might decide to spend Election Day returning from somewhere rather than voting.

I have heard this before, years ago. It is common sense.

And as long as the date is when the weather is nice, that is fine. I was just throwing out other possibilities, I agree on the main idea.

Let it be November 1-7 with the 7th being a holiday

There is no way they will allow that. We definitely should have the day of election day off but I don't think November is a good day. I would rather a day between Washington's Birthday and Memorial Day. That time is normally a barren day with zero days off.

More countries hold elections on weekends than don't. Move it to the weekend, or make it a national holiday; weekday elections also depress turnout.

Soon Presidents, Vice Presidents, Senators, Representatives, Supreme Court Justices, in fact all elected positions in all levels of government both federal and state will be another position in the corporate ladder.
