Trayvon Martin’s Mother: “They’ve killed my son, and now they’re trying to kill his reputation.”

The parents of Trayvon Martin strongly condemned new reports that negatively reflect their son in an emotional press conference in Sanford, Florida Monday afternoon.

Both parents responded to two reports released Monday, where Martin’s shooter George Zimmerman claimed the teenager was the aggressor during the incident and an Associated Press report that found Martin was suspended from school for possessing marijuana.

“Even in death, Trayvon is gone and will not be returning to us,” said Tracy Martin, the slain teenager’s father. “Even in death, they are still disrespecting my son. And I feel that’s a shame.”

Martin’s mother, Sybrina Fulton added, “They’ve killed my son, and now they’re trying to kill his reputation.”

1. My respects!!!

Does not matter what this young man was wearing, it does not matter if he looked suspicious to a civilian, he broke the law. He impersonated the duties of a law enforcement officer without having the lawful authority to effect the duties of a police officer. What should they charge him with, 1)attempted kidnapping for one, using a pistol to detain this young man, 2) impersonatin g a police officer by attempting to assume the duties of a law enforcement officer. 3) Negligent manslaughter. This young man did not threaten anyone in the fashion to be pursued with deadly force, Mr. Zimmerman should never have started "these people always get away with stuff"!! That statement alone shows malice intention. Just because there was marijuana in his pocket does not make him a bad child. Heck I smoked marijuana when I was young most did even in the sixties it's not equivolent to taking a life. Children are not born perfect and we as parents need to face that reality. We can teach our kids the best, but even so they make some bad choices and learn from them. I smoke marijuana and got suspended from school before, and now I have an honorable discharge from the Navy public credibility as well as in the process of becoming a police officer and I am a black make as well. The true crime was a pistol being used on an unarmed teen. To the young mans family, you have my respects I am facing a civil legal situation as we speak.

2. A couple factually incorrect points...

1. Impersonating a law enforcement officer is likely not an applicable charge in this situation, nor is attempted kidnapping, and there is no way to prove Zimmerman attempted either of these crimes.

2. Trayvon Martin did not have any illegal drugs on his person when he was killed- the scuttlebutt is that he had been suspended from school for having a bag with residue.

Even if he posted nasty crap on the internet...
The fact remains that a well-armed 28 year old 250 pound man decided this 17 year old walking through his subdivision while black was a capitol offense.
