Young Republicans confirm that their peers hate Republicans
by kos
So the college Republicans commission a report to find out why their peers hate their party so much, and we can sit there and laugh that they spent money to discover the obvious:
Words that up-for-grabs voters associate with the GOP: The responses were brutal: closed-minded, racist, rigid, old-fashioned.
But there were some nuggets of good info in there, such as one-quarter of young voters won't even consider voting for a candidate who holds anti-gay views. I'm telling you, the millennials are changing this country for the better. On the other hand, we can go back to laughing when we see how these young Republicans react to that info:
snip//
Ha ha ha ha ha ha! Have they taken a look at their party recently? They can't "promote diversity" because the very word "diversity" is anathema to the GOP. Witness GOProud's inability to exhibit at CPAC, lest the party's Christianists boycott the event. And they are absolutely the party of "fend for yourself." Where do you think that "43 percent" shit comes from, or the "you didn't built that" hysteria of 2012?
What these college Republicans are asking for would sever the GOPexcising its largest block of foot soldiers (evangelicals) for the potential promise of future support from young poor-performing voters, not to mention voters of color and single women.
This isn't a party that will suffer short-term pain for long-term advantage. It's not about to excommunicate the very people that are killing it.

(13,437 posts)1. If only their peers would turn out at the polls for us this November!
I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall when they received that report.
Am I a terrible person for finding so much joy in the misery of these college Republicans?

We couldnt understand homophobes or racists. And our kids are just like us or better.

(20,941 posts)3. Don't you think it has something to do with Republicans hating them first
I listen to Fox news and I know they hate me and people like me. Ditto for the dittoheads. The Op Ed. world is nothing but 24/7 hate columns. Pop by the book store and see the political pile of hate. It isn't even that they support policies that don't work, never worked, and won't work in the future. It isn't that they don't care about me as a person. They flat out hate me and tell me that every single hour of every day. So err... guess how that's working out for them.
