Time Warner Cable Offers Gift to Customers After Super Bowl Blackout
One day after Time Warner Cable customers spent more than an hour of the Super Bowl staring at a black screen, the company announced it would offer all subscribers a gift card or credit whether or not they were affected in the outage.
As the Seattle Seahawks met the Denver Broncos on the field for Super Bowl Sunday, TWC announced via Twitter about 4:45 p.m. it was having problems with its feed from Fox, among other Southern California channels.
The feed returned by about 6 p.m., but within the hour of the big game blackout, thousands of customers reached out to NBC4 furious with the outage.
"Seriously TWC - the game of the year and we're missing it," one NBC4 viewer said.
On Monday, the company announced it would give all Los Angeles-area analog customers a $5 gift card. Digital TV customers will get a credit for the cost of an OnDemand movie once purchased.
