(94,916 posts)Since theres an obvious Democrat and and an obvious Tea Party Republican, I see no value in asking a bunch of Democratic activists who they'd choose. The only thought that comes to mind is that you feel that Crist isn't a "REAL" Democrat, in which case you could have save everyone a lot of time by saying so.

(51,122 posts)But I don't want to get flamed... or banned.
The prudent choice is Crist.

(116,464 posts)but Floridians are likely going to have to make it: http://www.democraticunderground.com/10024232874#post28
A lot of people stayed home during the NJ election and some Democrats endorsed Christie (ugh!).

(20,411 posts)as a Florida voter, I am offended by the implication of your vile post.

(51,122 posts)But currently, when one reads a headline about someone doing something crazy, Florida seems to be the king.
Maybe in a decade it will be California or Kansas.

(116,464 posts)"Why even ask this question here? It makes no sense in the context of DU politics."
...unless you believe that Democrats aren't going to vote if those are the two choices during the GE.
Crist filed to run as a Democrat.
DrDan
(20,411 posts)then you think there are Dems, particularly some DU Dems, that would support Scott?
Scott isn't listed as a choice.

Never Mind - I jumped the gun
on edit - that said, I find it hard to believe a Dem would not cast a vote against Scott - he has been such a disaster.

(116,464 posts)why isn't Nan Rich's campaign being spotlighted more by Democrats/progressives? Does she have a chance of winning the primary?

(20,411 posts)Crist will be our candidate

(39,961 posts)That way she could be recognized and have some name recognition. Is it by no means too early to start talking about Democrats.

(16,204 posts)doesn't have the financial backing she would need to be a viable progressive candidate here in Florida.
She makes a lot of sense to a lot of people but name recognition and money are the things that work here.
That and the flatland hillbillies will vote against their own well being when the very word "progressive" is used.

(20,411 posts)Crist can beat Scott.
Recent polls show Crist could quite easily beat Bill Nelson should he decide to run for Governor.
Have to face reality here - and Crist will probably be our candidate. NOT voting for him against Scott will keep that cretin in power for another term.

(11,804 posts)Crist is phony lying deceitful snake; if he's the best Democrat we can find in Florida than I'm living in the wrong state.

Scott OTOH is an overt weasel.

(11,138 posts)We are active and impassioned participants in the political process. Why else would we spend so much time at a place like DU?
The trouble is that the vast majority of potential voters in Florida are NOT like us. They vote, usually, but they neither care as much as we do nor are they as informed. Come election day there are not a whole lot of them who are likely to take time off work, break a date, or get up early to get to the polls and vote for Crist. He is just too milquetoast for anyone to care. His changing of his party affiliation did not come about due to some sort of philosophical epiphany; in his case it really just doesn't matter that much as he stands for nothing in particular. He would govern exactly as you'd expect a man who lacks any identifiable ideology to, by doing whatever is the most politically expedient thing to do at the given time.
Crist may well win if it comes to a showdown between he and Scott but it would be more a backlash against Scott than anything else. Crist would indeed be an improvement over Scott but that doesn't mean much more than Crist is not evil in the manner Scott is. Crist is nothing, a nobody, a placeholder until the next election. He's the living embodiment of an Orange Traffic Cone.

(1,096 posts)While I don't like all of Charlie Crist's political positions, I don't like anything what-so-ever about the criminal in the Governor's mansion now.
