I apologize if this is a dupe. I did a couple quick searches, but am short on time! Just found this email from Harry Reid in my inbox:
Petition: Raise the minimum wage
Dear Mary:
Here are a few facts you wont hear from Republicans who stand against raising the minimum wage:
1) Adjusted for inflation, the minimum wage today is actually worth $2 less than it was in 1968.*
2) The federal minimum wage has been stuck at its current level, $7.25 an hour, since 2009 -- which works out to around $15,080 a year.
3) 25% of minimum wage workers have children.
The current minimum wage is not a livable one -- especially for workers with children and families to support. I am working to raise the minimum wage. And right now, Im asking you to take action to help.
Sign the open letter to Congress and let them know that you support raising the minimum wage.

How can a family of three living on $15,080 a year hope to make ends meet? When a person in America puts in a hard days work, they should be coming home with a wage that will allow them to put food on the table and a roof over their heads.
Right now, Washington is failing low-income Americans who are working for a shot at improving their lives. Its time we made this right.
Show Congress you support raising the minimum wage.
Thank you,
Harry Reid

I hope they will raise the minimum wage for tipped workers too. My daughter makes $2.13 an hour as a waitress. And people are not tipping as well as they used to.
