Rec and let Congressman Grayson know we support him and his 100%, grade A, fact based, no nonsense fight against the right wing tyranny.
For Twitter users, I suggest we send the tweet #grayson4dncchair

(5,082 posts)He's the best...between him Elizabeth Warren and the esteemed Russ Feingold we may have a future. Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden are not it...I do not trust them to represent us properly as they are too involved with all the wars and high finance schemes. Republican-Lite is not the way to go. I truly hope my fellow democrats realize this and are not fooled just because the horrible alternative from the rethuglicans is worse.

Just why would ANY Democrat not be willing to do what he is doing??
Sounds you made that up just for fun.
IrishAyes
(6,151 posts)That's been SOP for everybody since the beginning. If you don't at least know how the engine works, quit trying to drive the old mechanics.
BTW, re our other confrontation: you wanted something boiled down to two words for those of less lofty status than you and your very preppy sounding pals; well, it's not original from me, but a very popular slogan going around now is: CLEAN HOUSE !!
sabrina 1
(62,325 posts)remember? The old corrupt way was supposed to 'change' when we threw out all the Republicans in 2008. We had hoped that what YOU are now endorsing had run its corrupt, Corporate funded course.
It will. And it will be people like Grayson who begins that change. He apparently doesn't agree with you regarding 'how the GAME is played' and has proven that it doesn't have to be 'played' at all, because contrary to the political 'expert' opinion, those 'insiders' who lecture the rest of us ordinary citizens, it is NOT a game, political or otherwise. It involves people's lives. And we expect elected officials to work for those lives, NOT to accomodate what you appear to think it is 'all about'.
Grayson gets it. And we need and will find more like him and we will work to get rid of anyone who thinks their main job is to protect the corrupt status quo.
As for the rest of your comment, I have no idea what you are talking about.
If by 'lofty status' you mean 'working for the PEOPLE, thank you. That is my main concern. Your labels and intended personal attacks, the last resort of those who cannot defend their positions, mean zero to me.
IrishAyes
(6,151 posts)sabrina 1
(62,325 posts)Again, I am pretty immune to personal attacks, although you should worry that someone else might not feel the same way. If you have something you want to say about the TOPIC, which last I looked is not ME, although I'm flattered by your 'interest' I suppose, then do so. Otherwise you are making no sense so I'll leave you to your ranting.
IrishAyes
(6,151 posts)TP: toilet paper/Tea Party
The rest you'll have to answer yourself. You're really getting bothersome with your steady drumbeat of "She's attacking me, ma!"
Egocentric paranoia is not your friend. If you get off twisting everything that way, why not give both of us a break? I'm getting very tired of you pestering me, child. If you don't like something I say, give it a rest before you dig yourself any deeper. You're behaving like a nasty spoiled brat, and you don't know half as much as you think you do.
Bug off.
sabrina 1
(62,325 posts)take responsibility for your nasty personal attacks. I believe you addressed me, with a flailing rant to which I responded.
If you can't handle the reaction to your personal attacks, then maybe you should refrain from that particular form of dialogue.
I do not know you, and you sure do not know me, but from now do not address me at all unless you can do it civilly.
If you DO address me with your fantasies, which I hope you will not, expect to have them pointed out and exposed for what they are or be prepared to back them up. You don't get to attack people here without a response no matter how much you would like to.

(62,325 posts)problem with discussion with anyone who wants it.
There's an old saying 'if you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen'. You engaged ME, remember, with a personal attack out of the blue. Now you're whining because personal attacks don't affect me in the slightest. That is bully behavior which doesn't go down very well here.
Please, use ignore. I just wasted several valuable minutes of my time,, or maybe not!

(45,984 posts)Well, the Tea Party full of of racists. They claim that no one called John Lewis a (rhymes with trigger), but I'm sure someone among them did. It doesn't matter. One person calling a congressman who once marched with Martin Luther King a (rhymes with trigger) may be a one-off, but how many placards sported a caricature of President Obama as a Hollywood African witch doctor with a bone in his nose. The only justification of not condemning that as racism is that they don't know racism when they see it.

IrishAyes
(6,151 posts)And I'm not from Atlanta - haven't been there in quite a few years. I've just been hearing about the wild pigs. If not for the danger to bystanders, I wish people could shoot the muggers for dinner. Most urban dwellers don't realize pigs are omnivorous, not vegetarian. They can easily kill and consume smaller, more vulnerable humans and will if they get hungry enough. I'm sure there are some fools setting/leaving out dog food for the poor little dears. Wait until they kill a kid or 2 or 3, then you'll see control measures taken.
Regardless, Bryant's still the scariest of the bunch.

(10,597 posts)Republicons have been allowed for decades to shame the Democrats. (Or should I say allowed by the Democrats?) I am proud of Rep Alan Grayson for standing up and ending the double standard, once and for all! By golly, if they can play hardball, the Democrats can too. I know, I know... someone is going to say "two wrongs don't make a right." Eff that. Ever since PO was elected, they have turned politics into a political race war. And Democrats need to drink our Geritol, eat our spinach, stand up straight and call a spade a spade.

(1,135 posts)does not excuse him of his usually unpleasant behavior. I can't stand when he gets so patronizing and condescending to women. I watched him on Lawrence O'Donnell a couple months ago, being a total shit to Karen Finney. She didn't deserve the way he treated her..... She is not the only one he's been that way with.
Why does he have to be a hot dog, when he's on the side of right.... ? I'd still vote for him ( I do live in FL), but only because I do agree with his politics, or if there wasn't another dem I liked better...

(1,135 posts)but had no luck finding it. It was during the Syria crisis.
But there are several that show him not being very graceful or able to admit when he's wrong. I have a problem with anyone who can't admit that.....
Here he is after being on O'Donnell's on w/Chris Hayes and Grayson dials it way down with Karen Finney, about Syria this time. It's essentially the same discussion.
Edit: The guy isn't a saint and shouldn't be lauded so highly as if he were. He can be rude, obnoxious and completely pissy. And when he's like that with women, my personal regard of him is lowered.

This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
