I'm doing okay otherwise. I just finished coordinating all the events for the Houston Poetry Fest ( http://houstonpoetryfest.info/ ). We more than tripled the size of the Fest in just one year and put on workshops, satellite readings, and got the event re-eligible for a Houston Arts Alliance grant (which means we can start paying for more stuff and make better anthologies & stuff).
It's been a time cruncher on my day job and on my nards, but me and my marketing partner are getting bookoo creds for turning around what was a dying academic event into a true city-wide festival again. So I'm pleased.
Meanwhile I started this thread for apologizing to the country and world for that d-bag being my senator. Latest word is that the Houston Chronicle is writing an editorial apologizing for endorsing him for senator last year. Too late, of course, but it's nice to see conservatives waking up to what a bunch of idiotic eggsuckers the radical anti-governists are.

(9,901 posts)Good on ya'. You don't owe anyone an apology. Only the idiot's who voted for that S.S.W. need to pony up one.

(17,469 posts)or does anyone else have the urge to slap that smug expression of his face?
(Not that I would, I abhor violence, but I cannot deny the impulse is there).

(54,087 posts)Yes, the prior generation of wingnuts was bad. They were a bunch of bait-and-switch con artists bamboozling the public with divisive rhetoric and giving lipservice to unworkable "easy fix" solutions, which they never really believed in more than how much their corporate sponsors could use them to loot the treasury. But this new batch of Tea Spitters actually believe in all their crazy talk and are willing to burn down the barn just to make their points. I'd rather have a con artist than a lunatic in charge of the Congress. AT least the swindlers have a sense of self-preservation.
