I read somewhere in GD that a vote was taken to pay service members during any shutdown. But what about all of the other government agencies?
-will the USPS still be running?
-Passport offices?
-banking regulators?
-National parks?
-Social Security offices?
-food inspectors?
-FAA / NTSB?
-TSA?
Has anyone seen a good list of exceptions, of government entities and services that will remain running/open in the event of a shutdown?

National Parks will close, Social Security offices will close, banking regulators and food inspectors will be at home too I think.

(12,530 posts)Question: with some critical services and agencies remaining open, is there any chance the GaoP will try to call this the new normal, a la Sequestration? You know they'd piecemeal it if they could, and only reopen services and agencies they consider worthy.

(36,286 posts)for years will be put on hold - i don't want to be more specific, but my brother has been working on restoring a habitat for years, and his work is at a critical point. I suspect there are hundreds of stories like this - research work that goes out the window because of the interruption.
